Australasian NLP Association

Full Membership will be granted to individuals with at least NLP Master Practitioner Certification from a recognised training institute. Training and experience will include:

· Minimum of NLP Master Practitioner Certification consisting of at least 210 hours of training from a recognised training institution over a period of at least 2 years with at least half being experiential.

· A minimum of 50 hours of supervision of direct client work; a minimum of 25 hours must be taken outside of your initial training. Supervision has to have been provided by a qualified supervisors who has been counselling for a minimum of 5 years.

Completion of an appropriate degree, accredited Diploma in Counselling or Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling or an ACA approved course - see ACA website for full list of approved courses.
Minimum 50 hours (within a two year period) of documented professional supervision for counselling, paid or unpaid work.
References required from employer/peer.
Completion of 20 hours of ongoing professional development (OPD) and a minimum of 5 hours professional supervision per membership year.

Professional member:

Application for full membership is open to those who have successfully completed an "approved course in hypnosis and its therapeutic application" (National College of Traditional Medicine Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy, Victoria; NSW School of Hypnotic Sciences) or taken an examination in the theory and practice of hypnosis. Members must be medical practitioners, psychologists, dentists, chiropractors or theologically trained persons at the discretion of the Board. Application must be supported by two full members of the society.

Eligibility criteria and educational standards required for full membership:
1. Approval of Diplomas/Certificates in hypnotherapeutic studies. Applicant must provide photocopies of
original documents. Photocopies of course curricula may also be requested.
2. Not less than 30 hours study of relevant aspects of Psychology.
3. Not less than 30 hours study in Medical Terminology and/or Anatomy and Physiology.
4. Not less than 30 hours study of Human Sexuality.
5. Not less than 30 hours study of Psychopharmacology.
6. Recognised instruction of not less than 30 hours in Counseling Procedures.
7. Not less than 2 years in clinical practice (a minimum of 2 hours per week and certified in the form of a
Statutory Declaration).
8. Submitting a recent 16PF Psychological Assessment including the Profile and Second Order / Global Factors,
accompanied by a brief report by a registered psychologist.
9. Current First Aid Certificate.
10. Annual membership is also subject to not less than 20 hours continuing education and 5 hours of supervision
per year (3 hours as group supervision and 2 hours as individual supervision).

Note:
For items 2,3,4 and 5 - study may be private study of recognised/approved material in lieu of formal
class attendance.
Applicants are required to submit a full description and photocopies of all certificates attained including
the study hours in the courses attended/material studied with their application for membership. If
unable to do so, applicants may be required to sit a formal examination.

The Guild was formed in 1987 by a group of professional therapists who were concerned about the standard of training and expertise in their profession.
The main objectives of the Guild are:
1. To advance the knowledge, science and practice of psychophysical therapy and to maintain the highest ethical standards in the use of psychophysical therapy; and
2. To stimulate public interest in psychophysical therapy and to assist members in keeping up to date with developments in psychophysical therapy.
The Guild has three levels of membership: Fellowships, Full Members and Associate Members. Only Full Members and Fellowships have met examination and practical requirements for accreditation to practice as Clinical and Humanistic Hypnotherapists and Clinical Psychophysical therapists. These professional therapists are entitled to use the Guild's acronyms, its logo and name.
All members are sworn to the Healers Oath and are required to comply with the Guild's Code of Ethics published on the Guild website at www.guild.asn.au.

PACFA is an umbrella organisation that only has a diversity of therapy organisations as members. PACFA itself keeps a national register of therapists that have achieved the standards below.

Eligibility criteria and educational standards required:
Undergraduate Equivalent:
3 years Training in Psychotherapy or Counselling (3 years - 400 hours min)
+ 750 hours client contact with 75 hours post-training supervision (minimum) over two years (minimum)

Postgraduate Equivalent
Relevant degree (as defined by the Applicant's Professional Association)
+ Specialist Training in Psychotherapy or Counselling (2 years - 250 hours min)
+ 750 hours client contact with 75 hours post-training supervision (minimum) over two years (minimum)

Register members are required to undergo 10 hours supervision per year, plus 20 hours continuing professional development.
